12 Days of Christmas: Gift Guide for New Homeowners

This Christmas, give your newly anointed homeowner friend and family something to help them get up and running in their new home. There are lots of versatile tools that will go a long way in helping your friends make their house a home. Here’s our gift guide for new homeowners:

First things first: Every new homeowner needs a cordless drill. You can’t go wrong with the DEWALT 20V MAX Cordless Drill.

The DEWALT 20V MAX Cordless Drill is an excellent gift for new homeowners just starting their tool collection because DEWALT makes a whole line of 20V products that all use the same battery. If they decide that they also need an impact driver or a circular saw later on, this battery will also work for their tools.

A Short Stubby Screwdriver. This is a good one – and it makes a great stocking stuffer!

New homeowners inevitably find themselves trying to screw or unscrew something in a tight space where they can’t find a regular length screwdriver. That’s were this Klein Stubby Screwdriver comes in really handy. It’s also great because it includes several different tips to help you get the job done: 1/4-inch (6 mm) and 5/16-inch (8 mm) and screwdriver sizes #1 and #2 Phillips, 3/16-inch (5 mm) and 1/4-inch (6 mm) slotted.

Does your homeowner friend want to hang pictures? They’re going to need a hammer and picture hangers.

Help your friend get some decor up on their wall by supplying them with a great hammer and a set of picture hangers (also a great stocking stuffer).

Painting Supplies

Our gift guide for new homeowners would not be complete without painting supplies. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a new homeowner who doesn’t want to change their wall colors. Help them out by creating your own paint kit: Here are some products we recommend:

A Self Inking Return Address stamp with their new Address

Ok, so you might want to make this an early Christmas present, so they can use them for their Christmas cards. This self inking return address stamp makes a great gift for new homeowners (or even anyone who recently moved). BONUS: This one fits in a stocking, too.

A Smart Thermostat

We LOVE our Ecobee thermostat. It can be controlled from anywhere using your smartphone. The app is great – and very easy to use.

An Echo Show

What I really like about the Echo Show 5 is that you can use it instead of your smartphone to pull up recipes while you’re cooking – and it’s hands-free. Who else is tired of the phone screen going to sleep when they have gooey food hands? BONUS: Looking for a less expensive version? Try the Echo Dot.

A Smart Garage Door Opener

Have you ever left your house and wondered if you left the garage door open? The MyQ Smart Garage Door Opener Chamberlain MYQ-G0301 will let you check – and close it – from your smartphone.

A Smart Plug

Speaking of leaving things open.. have you ever wondered if you turned the curling iron/ flat iron off? Get a smart plug! This way you can just turn the plug off from your phone if you’re worried.
