DIY Kids Punching Bag

When I was growing up, I was lucky enough to have my grandma live with my family. It was great having her around, especially since she was a free, built-in babysitter. She always made sure sure I had a good time, despite our very tight budget. My grandma grew up during The Great Depression, and the creativity she had from that time never left her. Here is an easy DIY kids punching bag that will provide hours of entertainment for your kids, and its FREE!

Time to make: <5 minutes

Cost: Free

Materials:

  • 2 plastic supermarket shopping bags
  • Newspaper
  • String

Fill a plastic supermarket bag with crumbled up balls of newspaper until it is full. Tie the plastic handles into a knot so the newspaper will not spill out. Put this bag full of newspaper into a secondary bag for strength, then hang the punching bag with string. My family had a tree in the backyard with a low branch that grandma used to tie the DIY kids punching bag. She would change the heights so I could punch or kick. The bags eventually will tear, so keep additional bags as necessary. The most important step, have fun.
